dealership too far to deal with recall UK

Hi

a work mate has received a recall notice for the jeep liberty ball joint repair but the dealerships is over 100 miles away, what is the stance on another division of the chrysler brand carrying out the recall?

having worked at other dealerships there was no problem in another dealership carrying out the recall but the rep he spoke with said only they can carry out this recall… is this true or a load of gibber???

usually any dealership can handle the recall.

just to be clearer the closest jeep dealership is over 100 miles away,i know a honda dealership wouldnt handle a peugeot recall but would a fiat gagrage handle a jeep recall (fiat own jeep dont they?)
