K, well first off I’m Ron, thanks in advance for your time and hi as i am new here. Soo…i have a 2013 kia optima that has been a real head ache ever since i got the thing ( its a kia what was i thinking). Anyway at 3000 miles i brought it in for a hard vibration in the front end and the dealer said they couldnt find any thing wrong. Two days later i take it to another dealer and they replaced both cv axles on the car and i thought it was all good and no more worries. Since that time i have taken it back for the same thing 5 times and they continue to say nothing is wrong. The last time i took it I showed the guy how much play was in the cv axle and all they did was tighten it up and sent me on my way. The last visit was at 15000 for the oil change and also the chronic problem I’m having. Now i have 18628mi on the car and they are loose again. I know some play is needed but not so much that you can grab the axle and get an audible clunk out of them. I have contacted a lemon law rep and he said i have to wait till it breaks again till he can do anything, so i feel real good about driving it and having a cv come out and cause a crash. How do i get these guys to replace the cv axles? I’ve been to 4 dealerships and have run out of ideas. There have been two case numbers on this car also and Kia wont replace or buy back this hunk of junk. HELP!!!

I might be wrong, but it sounds like the real problem could be with your differential. Diagnosis would include pulling the differential and measuring backlash tolerances. Or, the side bearing pre-loads on the differential could be incorrect allowing play in the cv axles.

Stuff like this is hard to guess without actually looking at the vehicle.

The main issue you might want to consider is “dealer, or no dealer.” banana:
