Dead Blazer No Start

      Other day I jump into my 2001 blazer, cranked fine, head to store. When leaving store blazer wont crank and eventually run battery down. Get jumped and blazer finally starts and runs a lil rough heading home. 30 mins later I try starting it again, same problem, no start battery goes dead. Another jump but this time takes a few mins to finally start. I shut it off and hasnt cranked since. That was 8 days ago. Since I have checked everything that my lil brain can think of. I pulled the timing chain cover, seems fine and marks line up. Pulled distributor everything seems fine on that end. Set back in time. Cap/rotor seem fine as well. Checked spark at coil and plug, both firing nice and blue but went ahead and replaced coil. Checked fuel pressure, 58psi. New fuel pump/filter 2 months back. Changed crankshaft position sensor and cam position sensor with no luck. Motor just turns over and over. Try spaying starter fluid into intake with no success what so ever. So up to this point Im stumped. Got spark, got fuel but wont start?? What am I missing here guys?

        Cranking means you try to start it and it goes ruh-ruh-ruh-ruh-ruh (sound of starter turning engine at very low RPM) and then it either starts or it doesn’t. I’m confused because normally people run the battery down when trying to start it because they keep making it go ruh-ruh-ruh-ruh-ruh for too long because it never starts.

        Anyway, it’s a blazer so it probably needs a fuel pump.

          As stated the fuel pump is new and fuel pressure is good :stick:

            Not much left if you`r sure it has good spark. Only thing left is compression or fuel quality. I`m thinking that it`s badly flooded. You could try starting while holding the throttle wide open. Remove the plugs to see if they are soaked with fuel

              I apologize, I didn’t read your whole post before I posted and I know that’s very rude. I have a OCD thing about the cranks/turns over/starts terminology because they always mean different things to different people, and I got hung up on that. Totally me at my weakest, sorry.

              For an engine to run, you need the four basic running conditions to be ok. Compression, timing, fuel, and spark. The only thing you haven’t touched on is compression and everything else seems ok, but your failure pattern really doesn’t sound like a compression problem so I’m stumped too. Wish I had more to offer than sounding like an ass.

                Did you check the fuel pressure pre or post the spider assembly? See if this article helps any…

                    Anyways if you haven’t, run a compression test I would just to have a baseline if anything. Also a cranking vacuum test would be quicker and would help to rule out an internal mechanical problem and it is quicker than a compression test. A leakdown test is usually always the best choice for a clear cut answer but it takes the longest.

                      Something like this happened to me the other day in my blazer, turned out to be the battery. It was only a year old but it was defective. Take it to pepboys or autozone-they test them for free. Also check your battery terminals for corrosion. Low battery voltage can also make it do weird things electrical wise or make it throw random codes, which may also explain the rough driving. Dont overlook the little things.
