      Hi everyone,

I have a 97 honda civic, american. The passenger day running light does not work but the turn signal works just fine. The headlights are fine, both turn signals, hazards work for both, and of course only the driver day running light works. Please help with any suggestions thank you.

If it’s not the bulb I would use a multimeter or a test light to see if the receptacle is getting power and ground. Trace the problem back to a point of weakness, usually corrosion at a connector or a broken wire.

Most cars with DRLs have manual switches to turn on the night time lights or turn headlights on with car off jus this switch do both headlights work?

Thank you guys for your input. I will definitely try the multimeter route.

When I say daytime running lights I mean the ones that are attached within the headlight assembly or when you put your lights on they come on with the first turn then the headlight on the second. What you are referring to are fog lights, they are usually on a separate switch.

Check your fuses and the bulbs themselves. as suggested
check for 12v right at the sockets.

DRLs are high beams on lower voltage. it is possible your high beam is out

I am unclear on the problem. Does you head lights work on both low and high beam? Are the “day running lights” the headlights? Check the electrical connection to the light itself to check for problems. A fuse or relay likely wouldn’t be bad since they would probably run both lights and not just one. I doubt a “switch” or connection inside the car would be bad either since it would control both lights, not just one. Sounds like an electrical connection at the bad light or the bulb itself might be the fault.

I’ve got a similar problem with my mercury marquis 1994. My tail lights are out & speed odomer light.( could they be related?) The headlights, turn signals, hazard lights & brakes light work. I had a problem w/ ants in my car, I wonder if they mess the wiring? I’ve check the fuses, relay, all bulbs been changed, but both lights out. I have a 12 vol meter, no sure where to begin to find bad wire. I thought about the dimmer switch but, everything thing else is working.

I check the wires w/ a 12 volt tester. There’s power to light bulbs but not to the front. I believe it the dimmer switch. But I’ve not figure out how to take apart my dash. This weekend I had to work late, no taillights & memorial weekend. . So with a little working, I took a 6volt battery, wires,a light bulbs: made tail lights to put in the sockets & tag lights. No tickets, thank god. My problem with the dash is there’s bolts that need a special tool haven’t figure which one yet.
