Eric,
I was thinking that since a lot of newer cars are coming with CVT transmissions that a video on ETCG1 explaining the basics of one and how it works would be a big hit. I recently just purchased a 2011 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL with the CVT and I found there is a lot of unanswered questions, comments and reliability concerns plastered all over the web. I know you worked on Honda’s and Acura’s the most and from what I read they have the easiest CVT to service and rebuild on the market. Maybe you could shine more light on your experiences with them and what you heard. Also people need to be informed of the importance of using the 100% correct transmission fluid. I have read a lot of incorrect information on the internet of people telling others to use regular transmission fluid for top-off’s and drain and refill’s. The CVT uses such high pressure to squeeze the steel belt in the pulley system that regular transmission fluid would destroy the CVT and void all warranties.
If you Google CVT most of what comes up is bad experience and failures. Maybe a history lesson on the development would be good to ad to your topic.
I hope I didn’t over whelm you with my suggestion but, I feel that you could really put to rest the misconception of CVT’s and explain them better to folks.
I love your videos and would absolutely love to meet you one day. I am a huge fan! Keep up the awesome work Eric!
Dan
