Having trouble with my 2007 Nissan sentra cvt transmission. I am thinking of changing it out. I would like to know if I will need any special diagnostinc tools to change it out. For instance is there any special programming that will have to be done after changing it out. I have replaced engines and transmissions in other cars> However never worked on a cvt transmission.Any advice would be appreciated. Problems I am having now. Transmission makes strange noise when put in gear reverse or forward or when you turn on air. Also when driving if you hit brakes at around 20-30 mph it downshifts hard. Why when there arent any gears in transmission. Occassionally I feel slippage.

Correct me I’m wrong , but aren’t cvt transmissions part of the engine ? Might be tricky to change

CVT transmissions are not part of the engine. At least not on a Nissan.

Here’s the best discussion on repairing CVT transmissions that I have run into. I’m not sure it answers you specific questions but contains a ton of information – worth anyone’s time who works on cars.

Thanks but I have seen this video. Not wanting to rebuild just swap out. I called a couple junkyards they said programming is not necessary. So that is a relief. Thanks for responding. banana:
