cv joint leak

      I have a 2004 toyota tundra 4×4 and there is grease slung up on the frame etc from the passenger side cv area, but the boot is excellent condition what’s up?

        Sometimes they don’t get the clamps tight enough. The inner front boots on my Subaru were this way. I suppose a new clamp may have fixed it but I installed new boots.

        Another thing is the big rigs on the highway can sling a lot of grease. If it is sticky like chassis grease it probably didn’t come from your vehicle.

          Yes, sometimes the clamps loosen up… Inspect around the ends of the boot to see if this is where it is coming out… If your boot is still in good condition just replace the clamps… May want to add some new grease to replace what was lost…

              If you ever start or stop real quick and the wheels chirp, the tires will sling off some stuff that looks and feels a lot like grease, but it’s overheated tire material.

              Otherwise you have a leaky CV joint boot. Sometimes if one of them is going bad it will overheat and swell up and squirt out some grease. Or it might have a pinhole leak.
