Is there a switch incorporated into your dome light? It might be in the OFF position.

Also, some vehicles can turn on their dome lights by moving the dashboard light brightness control to MAX, (or there could be a separate detent position just past the MAX position). If your Jeep is wired like this, does the dome light illuminate when you max out the dashboard brightness?

The dome lights are fixed. For those interested. There is a wire harness that runs down the drivers side ,under the rug. In a plastic housing. Open the plastic via tabs on the side. You will find a orange /yellow wire. ,and most likely a bubble of green crusty. Pull on it and it will break. Just strip both ends. Add a piece of wire and splice solder and and tape up. And Walla. Your light will all work. Easy fix.
