Cruise control not working- 2005 GMC Canyon

Just bought a 2005 GMC Canyon and the cruise control is not engaging. I checked the brake light switch and everything is fine. And all the fuses are fine as well. I don’t know what else it could be besides the actual wiring on the turn signal stick. Let me know what you guys think.

Is this a stick shift? You have a switch on the clutch pedal or linkage also. Check at the throttle body, should be a plug with two wires for the throttle actuator motor. Does your speedometer work ok? The is the brake light switch, but also a switch for the cruise control that is separate I believe, on the brake pedal.

No it is an automatic. The speedo is working fine. But i did notice there was a wiring harness with two wires on it. I looked for a place to plug it in but couldn’t find a place. This is under the steering wheel by the brake pedal. Do you think this could be a relay as well?

Look at the break pedal for a switch, hope the diagram helps.

You were right about the break light switch. I got a new switch and the tail lights work. However the cruise control only works for a short period of time then kicks off. I mean like 1-3 seconds of it turning on. I think it might be a relay now? I checked the fuse and it seems to be fine. it isn’t blown.
