Hello fellow friends and ETCG enthusiasts,

I have a 2003 Crown Vic CVPI with 82k miles. Car runs wicked awesome. I would like to install cruise control on this vehicle, but am not sure what all it entails, or where to purchase a kit. I have searched for 2 days but have yet to find anything that would work on a 2003. (for example, the ford cruise control store http://www.thecruisecontrolstore.com/ez-catalog/X380183/0014 only has a kit for the 2006 interceptor on up)

I am comfortable with air bag removal and steering column repair… installing a junkyard steering wheel with cruise control buttons would be quite simple for me. My main questions are: Do i have to go to a dealer to get the kit? will the kit be simply computer chip, re-flashing the computer, or do i actually have to install servos and throttle cables?

thank ya’ll in advance; any help will be appreciated. :side:

I don’t think I have ever encountered a Crown Vic that didn’t have cruise control. Is your’s just broken? It may have the cruise controls on the turn signal arm

There are others like me.. it seems to be common among CVPI’s not to include cruise control. They want police officers to actually “work” for their money:

If it were me I might try and find a cruse control unit in a salvage yard and install that. That way you’d be sure it would work properly on your vehicle. Aftermarket cruse control units can be a pain to install and sometimes fail. That said I would try to find an OE unit to install.
