Had to do some work to my 99′ Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 — replaced head gaskets, intake gaskets and new bolts also had to replace catalytic converter…now my cruise is acting different worked fine before I started and after I was finished with the gaskets things changed when I replaced the cat…when I set the cruise it will not shift down the transmission on an incline? and when I press the accel/resume button it will speed up slowly but will not kick down the transmission? any sugestions?

Maybe something didn’t get hooked back up right when you re-assembled… Check the transmission kickdown cable..

Check all your vacuum lines and make sure the vacuum reservoir is connected (it is the squarish box under the cowl) if you have a slight vacuum leak than you will get the behavior you described.

Also the cruise servo is under the battery tray and is known to take a beating from it’s bad position (and it is really easy to break the plastic cable guard on it) might be a good idea to pull the battery and tray out and test everything.

Also check the routing of the cable, if it is bound up it can cause issues where the cable is trying to overcome the binding.

Now I have an issue with my wifes 2008 Dodge Avenger, it onle blows heat on the driver side and blows cold air on the passenger side…it does not have duel control… Have any Ideas?

There is a TSB on uneven heat/cold problems for your wife’s car if it has the fully automatic HVAC system. Unfortunately it is outside the scope of home repair and requires a bi-directional scan tool to diagnose properly.

Glad you got the cruise issue solved. It would be great if you started a new thread for the problem with the other vehicle. It helps keep things organized in our database.
