I have a 1994 Jeep YJ with a 2.5 liter engine, manual transmission. !st engine rebuild I have ever done. Engine was hard to start the first time but after cranking about 10 rotations of the engine finally fired. I let the engine set an idle for about 10 to 15 minutes, let cool then repeated the procedure 3 more times. I then decided it was time for a drive down the road. Right away I noticed there was a problem, no acceleration with pedal all the way to the floor, top speed 20mph. Returned home and shut engine down. Have not been able to get it to start. I replaced the fuel pump and filter, injectors, cps sensor , coil ,distributor cap and rotor , ignition wires , spark plugs during the rebuild. I checked throttle position sensor and map sensor, both are good. Checked compression , 190 on all cylinders, checked spark good on all plugs, checked fuel pressure on fuel rail 45 to 50 lbs. I wanted to say I rebuild this engine and got it to run all on my own but I am stumped. HELP

Based off what you have said I would take a good close look at the distributor and its position… I would start out by checking the rotor position with the engine set at #1 TDC…

I might also put a noid light on the injector plugs to ensure they are getting voltage…

          Karl,
Thanks for the advise, you were right, while installing distributor I missed by one tooth. Timing was extremely retarded. Jeep is now running great! Thanks again,
          Phil
