hey guy’s im working on a 01 mercury sable with a no start condition i had low fuel pressure so i replaced the fuel pump. I started the car after install ran for 10 minutes i cut it off after that tried to restart and no luck. I have 50 psi of fuel pressure, have good spark, and compression. I also replaced the crank sensor still no start just cranks. oh i forgot to mention earlier before this no start i did a intake gasket and valve covers on the same car started after drove around town no problem then on the way home it started sputtering like a misfire since then i have done all this work and now i have this problem. Is there anything else i can do to get this car fixed ? Any ideas would be great thanks for the help.

Try spraying starter fluid to see if it starts. If so fuel problem.
check that you have injector pulse. check engine light on?

Did you do anything with the fuel injectors when you replaced the intake gasket? I would check for power at the fuel injector harness and/or check them with a noid light… Perhaps a ground issue as well if there were any ground wires you may have had to disconnect (if any)…

I did check for injector pulse with a test light all I got was a solid light. So I know I’m getting power at the connector. The only difference is it is not blinking on the hot wire side when I crank the motor so I’m thinking ecu because I don’t have injector pulse? Gonna try to reset that and see if it helps.

As you found out, you can only check for power with a test light, not pulse (which is why noid lights were invented)… A noid light is a proper test. As you know, the ECU should ground the proper line at the proper time…

Also, just out of curiosity, is there a security system on this car?

The only security I have on the car is factory. I did see somewhere on the Internet that you can check pulse with a test light I know it is not a true test. Is there any other test I can do that may help with this issue?

As earlier suggested, try to start it with starter fluid… If it starts, you probably have a fuel delivery issue.

I think you may have a wiring issue related to a fuel delivery issue.. I would check all the wiring around the injectors… Ensure they are all plugged in correctly and no exposed wiring.

To be sure in a diagnosis, I would suggest a run to Harbor freight with a 20% off coupon, if one is around you and pick up some noid lights… They are always handy to have around…

I do find it suspect that this issue started having the no-start issue after the intake was removed…

ok guys here is the update i tried starter fluid ran for 2 sec shut off so i know it is fuel related to this issue. At this point im gonna search wiring diagram and check relays to see if the problem may be in there somewhere. I double checked all connections everything is plugged in all fuses check good now im moving on to relays if anyone has any other ideas please let me know. Oh i also reset ecu no change thanks for the help everyone.

                        college man,

i went out and got a noid light tester i have injector pulse on the injectors so that rules out ecm , fuse issue, relay, fuel pump, coil, and crank sensor. I am really stumped here i have tested just about everything still no start if you can think of anything else please let me know thanks for the info.
