I thought the no crank, no start video was great.

Is there any resource out there to learn about have a crank, but no start???

My next door neighbor had a nissan versa 4 cyl crank with grind/squeal but no start. Car had been sitting a week. His oil level was 2 quarts low. Filled that up. I’m just a DIY parts changer. No diagnosis skills here. Tried to jump start, no good. Load tested battery, seemed fine. Wound up pushing the car 10 feet to get it onto, his driveway from the street where it was parked previously. Cranked a few more times at it sputtered for a while and finally did start. No problems for the last 2 weeks.

check your connections to the starter. You want as much Cold Cranking Amps as the battery can give out. I would also take the starter out and get it tested. your starter might be wearing out. Also check for voltage leaks with your ignition system. Another thing I would do if you have a scanner, plug it in and see if you get any codes. It would help a great deal if you could provide any picutres/video.

Yeah, I did put a code reader to it – no codes.

Wish I could tell you more, but it’s the neighbors car. And he’s not likely to do anything else for the car until he’s stranded somewhere.

I was wondering if there was a general diagnostic checklist of things folks do to figure out crank, no start. It seemed like we did random useless things to the car (other than refilling the oil) and by luck, it started up.

Actually when reading through your post I was thinking this video might also be helpful. You’ve got to put some diagnostic time in. We can’t tell you what parts to change but we can help you figure out which ones are bad. Keep us posted.
