Crank, No Start

      Daihatsu Applause 1.6L
      Manual transmission
      EFI

      The Problem occoured after I’ve removed the fuel rail + fuel pressure regulator.
      cleaned the FPR with WD40 + light taping on it (was suspected as stuck open)
      after re-assembly, car cranks but dosent start.

      as far as fuel related:
      since I got no fuel pressure gauge
      I gave it a try to start with partially closed fuel return line, again crank but no start. (could be not closed enough)
      Positive on injector pulse.

      as for spark:
      got spark from the distibutor.
      al spark plugs are fouled equally, although not wet. (looks rich)

      grounds:
      all grounds tested good.

      Disassambled the ecu, looks perfectly fine. (and can’t get another known good)
      No codes stored.

      Adittional info:
      Fuel related: FPR seems to pass some amount on return line.
      Fuel pump working
      Fuel pump relay: checked, works at crank only.

      I was digging around for few days already.. need your fresh and experienced mech brains on this one. I’m stuck. 🙁

        Is there vacuum going to the FPR? I’m not familiar at all with your car but I found an image of the FPR and it looks like it uses vacuum to modulate flow. Since you know the problem started there you might want to just replace it if you can.

          I would spray starter fuild into the intake and see if you notice anything diffrent…. you might bot be getting egough pressure into the injectores for them to fire…. I would try with the starter fuel first and then check for vacuum leaks

            My thought it the FPR. Wd-40 belongs in the trash or used to cook spiders. Clean the FPR with fuel injector cleaner. You will have to put a pressure tester on it and see what it reads.

              +1 on what Rob said.
              Check to see if what you get with some starter fluid.
