I have a 98 honda crv that has everybody shaking there heads at. First of all the fuel pump went out in November and since then we can’t get it to run for more than 3 days at a time. We changed fuel pump, fuel filter, pgm fi module, the coil, and now it just cranks and no start I would just like to know where to go from this point. I had a mechanic scan for codes and nothing comes up for the codes. He can not even figure it out so he gave up on me. I hate to ask for help but I really need my car fixed so if you can please help me I would greatly appreciate it and thank you. I also have changed the Distributer cap and rotor, along with starter and alternator. I’m very curios if it could be the crank shaft sensor but I would guess it should have came up on the scanner and it did not at all the rims were up as well when the scanner was plugged in and the guy said it was good.

        Hello 🙂
when cranking do you have spark? injector pulse ? that you first need to know, before go any further.
I seen ckp sensor not work With no code,.. Does tachometer move when crank?

A good place to start would be Eric’s video on diagnosing no starts.

I wouldn’t do anything else until I got compression readings on the engine. If you have verified that you have fuel, and you have verified that you have spark.

Are you sure it may be compression? I’m only saying that because it seems like every time I change a new part it will run no longer than 3 days and then you will try to start it and it will just turn over, the last part I just replaced was the coil and it started right up afterwards and ran for about eight hours and then I went to the store shut it off and came out and all it did was crank over.when it does start it always runs good no chugging or spitting and sputtering it runs very well even the idle is very good so I’m just stumped on the little car but I can get the compression checked if that is what you think it may be. You would probably know better than me.

have you check that injectors have 12 volt on yel/black wires at injectors, at ign on? if you have, does ground switches at injector when crank? you could check With noid light.
if hat ok, have you check fuel pressure?

I know this sounds probably kinda dumb but how can I check the fuel pressure? I really don’t have many tools but I am trying my best to figure this car out it is getting very depressing to have mechanics shake there heads at you and say well I don’t know and walk away. It is hard being a women with car problems but I will try my best to figure everything out and thank you for the input anything and everything is very helpful.

                      Ok 🙂
You need a fuel pressure gage With adapter for youre car, you remove the banjo bolt on top of youre fuel filter, then screw in adapter then hook up fuel gage at adapter.
Pressure at ign on should be 38-46 psi. Then apply vacuum to fuel pressure regulator, pressure shold drop to about 30-37 psi.

If you are sure you have spark on plugs, i would check that injectors getting Power and ecu comand ground on off. As i said before, you could use a noid light for that test. If that ok, i then go check fuel pressure.
Hopfully you have check all fuses 🙂

A faulty ignition switch can cause this kind of problem. Your CR-V, just like other Hondas of this era, are under a recall for those switches. Call the Honda dealer with your VIN and you can possibly have this done free of charge if the VIN is applicable.

Unless the switch has outright failed it’s near impossible to test them as the failures are intermittent and heat related due to high current draw.
