Hey my name is Cody. My 96 Honda Civic randomly cut off one day I tried to turn it back on but it would crank but wouldn’t start so I checked my spark plugs and I noticed that there was oil in one of the spark plugs so I changed my calve cover gasket and it still won’t start! So I put in a new distributor because it wasn’t getting any spark and it still wouldn’t start so today I went and bought new spark plugs and still nothing. What else could be wrong or what do u think is the problems

I’ll start by saying that aftermarket distributors for Hondas are a known issue. I’d recommend going back to OE. That said, you need to find out what’s missing during the no start. I’ve written extensively about what to check here.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Is there still oil on the plugs after the gasket change? Was the valve gasket the original problem? Other seals/gaskets can fail under the valve cover and cause the same issue, oil on the plug and hard starts/no starts.
