Hi, I have a 2004 Honda civic, it has had a p1456 code for years now, but drives fine. I remember going in for an oil change and the mechanic showed me a small hairline crack on the gas tank just by the gas filler tube, he wanted to replace the whole gas tank and was quoting some ridiculous price. I’m wondering what the best way to find this crack again is, I can’t seem to find it again, and once I do find it, can I use something like JB weld or an epoxy to seal it. I’ve replaced the gas cap and the purge solenoid valve before that, and the code would always come back, so now I’m thinking this crack is causing a leak in the gas tank pressure and setting off the code.
I remember when the car was newer and I would take the gas cap off I could hear a slight whoosh as the pressure in the tank would release, but that no longer happens. Thanks 🙂
