Anyone know the current cost for the “education”? And how long does it takes?

It’s unclear exactly what you’re wanting to know. If by education you mean an automotive trade school education to be used in the repair of automobiles then the cost can vary widely depending on the school, length of the course, etc.

I think some schools like UTI and so on may set you back 30 grand.

It should be kept in mind that completing a course and even having stellar grades does not necessarily translate into working knowledge.
I’ve worked with some people who graduated at the top of their class after a 2 year course and really had no idea where to start on a car that was towed in for a no-start condition.

I have hired guys that were really good on the book side but couldn’t make it translate to the real shop world,I have hired guys that did really poorly on the book side but have tremendous mechanical ability.
If you dont have a natural ability for mechanics no amount of book time will help you.
