      Hey Guys,

Took the thermostat housing off and noticed this white chalky substance. First thought maybe corrosion, second thought it could be from not using distilled water. It doesn’t look like stop leak, but could be.

Never seen this before, and wanted to know your thoughts on what it could be?

Appreciate your time, and any help or advice you can offer.

      Thanks

It looks like a combination of mineral deposits and possible stopleak. A good flush of the whole cooling system and fresh coolant should prevent it from getting worse.

Man, that looks like bacon grease. What is the texture like? Slimey, crunchy or rubbery?

Yea man. It’s not pretty. Freaked me out when I seen it, because all I could picture is this crap inside the block. It has a gritty like texture to it, not so much a slime feel though.

I got some acid flush even though I am getting a new Rad, and heater core, just to try to get as much of this crap out of the block I can.

I just hope there is not much in the block to go back in the new rad, and core.
