hello to everyone, can somebody help me how to see if my coolant temperature sensor is fault or the thermostat is fault. I’we notice several days ago that when i am driving downhill my engine temperature is dropping down on cool. Thanks.
Sorry the issue is for honda accord 1995

Take out the thermostat & check to see if it’s good, on a cold engine it should be closed, put it in a pot and boil it and it should open, then you’ll have your answer!!!

Why do I have that feeling that you are low on coolant? Maybe because level changes when you go downhill? But it’s not your temp sensor.
Start with checking coolant level in radiator and expansion canister.

What do you mean by down hill? If you live in the Rockies or along the West coast where there are downgrades that run for miles, this would be normal.

I mean downhill for several miles. For example yesterday i was going down from one mounting for about 15 miles road down. After 15 minutes driving the temperature of the engine was on cold. After, when i reach normal road, strait without downs the temperature went to normal.

Coolant in the expansion canister on cold engine is up to normal. to check when engine is hot?

Today i notice another thing the upper radiator hose was deformed, or crushed inwards. Can anyone know why is this happen?

                Thanks

On some cars (for example mine) if you take your foot completely off the accelerator the computer shuts off fuel. So, the only heat being generated coasting down hill then is friction in the engine and the oil being flung around. If that is your case the engine will cool down.

The upper hose collapsing is due to vacuum. I could be a bad hose but more likely it is a malfunctioning radiator cap. As the engine heats coolant expands and the radiator cap opens to allow coolant flow to the reservoir. When the engine cools after shutdown, coolant contracts and vacuum occurs. A valve in the radiator cap should open allowing coolant to flow back into the radiator.
