      My sister Boiled out the coolant in her car and calls me at 10pm knowing I’m sleep.. (sorry about that little rant) Ok here’s what I got 2000 chevy malibu is over heating and still is.I just replaced water pump. the upper radiator hose was pluses. Could that be stuck t stat or what? I did a simple drain and flush. Looking for some ideas on where to go. I know replacing the t stat is good start.but after that I’m lost. Any ideas fellas

        You can remove the t-stat for visual inspection and put it in a cup of hot water (>190 degrees) to see if it opens up. If it does, the t-stat is fine. I would check to make sure the cooling fan and coolant temperature switch are plugged in and that the fan is turning on. Does the fan turn on if you turn the A/C on? If the fan doesn’t come on at operating temperature with A/C off, then the coolant temperature switch could be faulty or have a wiring issue.

            Well I checked it out and no leaks. So I looked it up online and found a bleeder screw on top of the coolant lines bleed out the air, then drove it around never got past mid range on the gauge. Rechecked coolant all is good.
