i have a 2004 cavalier 2.2 recently the a/c stopped cooling at a light after a long drive and the check engine light came on. after getting the code (p0480) it was a cooling fan issue, and found it was a blown fuse, replaced and then it blew out after 5 min of driving. i have been driving for a couple of days (car does not get hot) a/c blows nice and cold while at a good speed but stops at a light, my question is would the compressor going out cause the cooling fan fuse to blow im asking cause when i put a fuse in and drive i feel a heavier load on the motor than when the fuse is blown.the compressor does not knock or make any noise that would make me think its starting to lock up. any input would be awesome

      thanx

unplug the cooling fan that the fuse is for and drive your vehicle if the fuse doesn’t blow then you most likely have an internal short in your cooling fan and it will need to be replaced to stop blowing the fuse

Of course, once you have determined that one of your cooling fan motors is bad, you should really replace the motor. There is a reason why the car came with two cooling fans. Running with only one will put your car at a significant risk of overheating, which could lead to further problems, including the possibility of a blown head gasket.
