I have a 1992 isuzu trooper 3.2l sohc that is leaking coolant onto my exhaust manifold and causing white smoke. i dont have coolant in my oil or vice versa and no smoke coming out of the pipes just under when the pipes get hot. i just purchased the suv and it was running fine on the test drive but started leaking on the way home from purchase. im not burning oil ether so im pretty sure my block and head gasket are fine but i cant locate where the leak is comming from. there was also a hissing sound coming from behing the glove box which i was told could be the heater core i put all my savings into the purchase of the vehical and need to try and do this as cheap as possible have a baby on the way and need the suv running asap please ne help would be greatly appreciated.

Rent a pressure tester from an auto part store and pressure test
the cooling system to find the leak.

ok will do. but do you think my head gasket could be bad or the block cracked even though its not burning oil and no oil is mixing in with the coolant and no smoke out of exhaust pipe?

Not likely, no. I really doubt it’s a head gasket.

It probably was like one of the things that happened to my old truck… the intake manifold gasket. Mine popped, and it peed out all the coolant inside of 10 miles.

Likely that, if you’re not mixing oil and coolant, and you’re not blowing smoke.

how much would it run me to fix the manifold gasket if that is the problem?

Depends on the shop you take it to, really.

If you find a good one, a ma and pa type affair and not a chain, you could probably get it done for anywhere between 400-600 dollars.

Again, your mileage may vary.. you might be able to do better. If you’re mechanically inclined, you might be able to do it yourself!
