coolant flush

A friend of mine wants to know if you can flush out the coolant system with distilled water. The car is the same as mine 87 Buick Lesabre limited and I told him that is a good question. So, I thought I’d post and get a reply.

You can do it that way.Drain the radiator.fill with distilled water.
circulate. drain radiator.refill with the proper coolant/mixture. 🙂

Absolutely, I use distilled water to flush my systems all the time. Walmart sell distilled water at a very inexpensive price, usually sold in the grocery section. It means hauling many gallons of diluted antifreeze to the recycling center but I think it helps to clear impurities that will otherwise contaminate the new coolant.

Depending on how bad it is I would probably flush it a couple times with tap water then do a final rinse with distilled water
