To start off, our dealer is known as a revolving door for service writers and techs but we have slowed down on techs lately.
Recently another service writer left us to go back teaching skydiving lessons and a position has opened up. The only good writer we had for our team left us about 5 months ago. The only other good writer we have is writing for one of the other teams.
I love turning the wrench and diag work, but I am seriously considering giving writing a go and see how it would work out. A few other techs have mentioned I’m good talking with customers, and being a tech I can explain things to people where as our writers have to call us in multiple times a day because they don’t know what they’re talking about, which relates to the customer being puzzled and not selling the job.
If I do pursue writing I’m still going to finish getting the rest of my ase’s. Any pro’s or cons to writing? Go for it, don’t do it, I want to hear everyone’s thoughts and opinions.
