      Hi,

I have a 2004 Honda accord. I charged my ac with ac/pro refrigerant. Now I have compressor noise. I am afraid to turn the ac because I don’t want to damage the compressor. I thought I may have overcharged the system so I let some pressure out of the low pressure value and it seemed to fix the issue. The Same noise and engine is shaking? All I did was charge my system. What did I do wrong??

Whatever you used for refrigerant might be causing the high side pressure to be too high. Make sure the cooling fans are running with the A/C on. If everything is ok then the compressor may be getting tired.

Do you have A/C manifold gauges? A/C work is tough without them. I have these: http://www.amazon.com/Mastercool-66661-Brass-Manifold-Gauge/dp/B000BHKZIE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1403883787&sr=8-2&keywords=mastercool+manifold+gauge+set

You’ll want to look up the appropriate pressures for your car.

Honestly, the A/C quick charge kits are hit or miss. Also, why was your refrigerant low? Do you have a leak somewhere? The A/C compressor is probably quite expensive, so you may want to have a pro look at it at this point.

Most times the compressor is noisy because of an overcharge, over pressure, lack of lubrication or the compressor is just plain worn out.

Aftermarket refrigerants contain chemicals that your A/C system was not designed for such as propane and butane or both and goodness knows what else. Since your A/C was likely designed for R134a adding a foreign substance can cause all sorts of problems.

I would have a professional check it and explain what you have already done. I’m sure he won’t want that crap in his recycling equipment.
