      2000 Chevy S10 2.2L

I have a cold weather crank no start issue.

I have proper fuel pressure, I have spark, I have a full battery. Starter cranks powerfully but will not fire.

Checked plugs they did not look flooded; dry tanish brown in color. They are also new oem

12.5v at battery which is a Duralast Gold less then a year old.

I have tried starting with pedal pushed to floor, with no success.

I have tried turning key to ON position multiple times before starting.

      No vacuum leaks.

Engine light reads bad O2 sensor bank 1, & intermittent TPS (TPS is new)

      Had problem today at 30F

All electrical connectors are tight and have dielectric grease

      5w30 oil

      Full tank of gas

      I have not checked compression

Just seems weird that I only have this problem in colder weather.

Any ideas? Help Please I’m at a lost and need to be able to get to work :side:

      -Thanks in advance.

I know this is an older thread, but I have come here with a ME TOO. It appears many mechanics are baffled by Camshaft sensor problems. I am no expert (aside from having lived the painful experience), but from what I can see, some position sensors appear to fail (temporarily) when extremely cold. In my case placing a blow dyer directly at he camshaft sensor for about 30 minutes appears to resolve the issue… I have ordered replacement sensors, but it appears many of those can be defective (as can be seen on google, a guy ordered 2 Nissan senors and both did not work. Placed back his original and it worked fine)…. Hope this helps someone else.

Am a bit of a car repair novice, but… I am dealing with crank no start only in cold weather on a Saturn S-Series. I am leaving for Quebec this week to try and fix it for my long-distance GF. From poking around on SaturnFans-com, one guy resolved similar symptoms just by tightening the bolt that holds on the crank sensor, which was a bit loose (but from reading above, I think I’ll replace the sensor and coil while I’m there.) Anyway, his theory was that only in the cold, the slightly loose bolt becomes a factor.

I am assuming crank sensor mentioned above is the same as crank position sensor? If anyone happens to see this, and that is not correct, let me know. Thanks.

Ezyalb, it sounds like putting the resistor in the intake air temp sensor sort of ‘fooled’ your vehicle into thinking it wasn’t that cold? So did you permanently bypass or ‘fool’ it somehow? Just wondering, thanks.
