Looking for advice or opinions for code reader, besides reading engine codes, that is capable of diagnosing abs and srs systems. I have been looking at Autel maxidos ds708. Would appreciate an owner/user’s comments especially experience on diagnosing air bags. Or any other brands from an owners perspective. I do rebuilds and would like to be able get srs system cleared and working after replacing bags, modules and sensors. thanks,Dwayne

I have the ds708 and to be honest it will read and clear codes but will not clear crash data from srs systems, you will be hard pushed to find a one tool fits all for this. I have had this tool for a couple of years as the idea was to save having to keep getting the laptops out. Although the tool is a good multi-vehicle option the update price is on par with the Launch systems.
I am waiting for my demonstration for the Launch pad which is more expensive but looks like a better allround tool.

What kind of budget are you working with?

Scan tools are kind of the flame war topic. Some are die hard Snapon guys, others OTC. I know techs that think that any shop not using 100% OEM tools (Tech2win, Tech 2, Star, ect) should not be allowed to work on cars.

I have a Genisys updated to 5.0, works great for me. I have bi-directional controls and can flash ECMs and can do post-crash resets of the SRS system.

NICE, that is a sweet piece of equipment. I use OTC because it is what fits my budget, but the Snap on stuff is very nice.

I have some issues with the Verus (many shops are having some major issues with the units failing) and the OTC touch, both feel like they were rushed to market.
