OK so i have a 1992 Honda Accord LX with 172,000 miles on it. I got home this morning and when i got back in my car 10 mins later to go to the store i turn the key, the lights on the dash and everything turns on but when i got to start the car the starter does not even click, The lights and everything kill for like 1 second when it trys to start then they come back on. I check the engine codes and it pulls up code 12 which is the EGR lift valve. My car has been hesitating and reving on its own, even when i let go of the gas at low rpms in high gears the car keeps on moving with out slowing down. It also revs to 3 grand when it starts. Would the EGR cause my car to not crank or stop the starter from turning?

        Short answer – no.
But it needs to be removed and cleaned anyway.
        Dash lights mean nothing.
Either your battery is dead, or discharged, or battery poles/terminals are real dirty, causing undercharged battery/dead battery, or all of the above.
So you start with cleaning battery terminals and poles, charging battery, and taking it from there. ANd clean EGR.

Or, your car ignition lock went bad. Which is also very likely. BAd battery would have been giving you hard time gradually. Sudden = lock
