clutch issue

i got the clutch changed by a mechanic a few years ago. not sure if it caused the issue or i just started to notice the noise after. it started off as a slight squeak when idling with the clutch pedal released, if i lightly touch the clutch pedal, the noise would stop. Over time it has worsened and now, i can hear it squeaking even while driving at low speed in the drive through where it echos more. i can rest my foot on the clutch to shut it up. its fairly clearly a metal on metal squeal. i was told it would go away but it has worsened. i can only hear it at low speeds because of road noise, i assume it is constantly squeaking which explains it worsening over time.

Which brand clutch kit did you use? Hoping it included the throwout bearing too. This symptom sounds like the throwout bearing is starting to wear out.
