      Hey all =]

This has been going on for a little bit now guessing it probably has something to do with the gearbox or the CV drive shafts but here we go…

At first i thought it was something like free play in the clutch pedal or something because i thought it was caused by gear changes but no it happens on gear changes once the clutch is rengaged and i put my foot back on accelerator it makes its bang clunk noise like its picking up slack in a loose part

and also not only on gear changes but say im in slow moving traffic (1st/2nd gear slow) and it makes it aswell without the accelerator aswell just rolling along in gear

      Thanks

Usually this is caused by a broken engine mount. Bad CV joints tend to complain all the time and more so on turns, not so much on gear shifts.

Yea actually engine mounts were one of my suspects aswell but i thought it would do it going down the road hitting bumps in the road but it doesnt so much

Engine mounts are more at idle. A clutch chatter sounds more like your case in point.

Then again, you may have 2 different things going on. Does it vibrate at high speed/highway? Can you recreate it in second and fourth? How many miles?

You can try this. Have a helper get into the driver’s seat while you watch the motor from the side of the car. Have the helper put the car into reverse and while the brake is set and the drive wheels chocked, have them give it a bit of gas and tease the clutch out than do the same in 1st. If the mounts are bad (and I agree with Greg it is the most likely explanation) the motor or trans will move about more than they should.

Rule out motor mounts by teasing the clutch then tell us it’s still there. .its clutch chatter. I bet theres 107, 000 miles on it.

I’m going to throw my hat in the engine mount camp. What you describe are classic symptoms. So great testing methods have been pointed out as well. You may also find the information in this article helpful.
