hi guys been having this problem for about 3 months now. When i start the car the rev counter is hunting for a idle around 5000rpm and 7000rpm so thought it was because it was cold but after being on about hour round trip got home and it was still hunting for a idle. the wired thing is that the car drives as it should just cant find a steady idle i have cleaned the throttle body and even the tdc sensor and the map sensor. has anyone got any ideas on what it could be or how i could try and diagnose it.

      thanks in advance

        I had a Clio once,

No end of problems, my advice would be to float test it.

        Float testing
1 drive car to lake or sea
        2 push it in
3 if it sinks buy a decent car
4 if it floats wait until it sinks

Or you could plug it into an OBD2 scanner, the socket should be under the ashtray that will just pull out.

        When was it last serviced?

You may want to check for vacuum leaks around the throttle body and all your hose connections.

Here is a video from ETCG

As you don’t seem to want to float test it and you have no codes I’d also go with a vacme leak search.

Interesting that cleaning injectors solved the issue. I would have suspected a vacuum leak based on your description. That said, if the problem comes back you might want to take a close look at the IAC valve. If it was sticking it could have caused the issue. The cleaning could have freed it. Hi Eric the problem did come back the iac valve is part of the throttle body and you can’t get it out
So can’t get Ito it to clean it out I’ve tryed looking for a air leak but can’t seem to find out
