The clear coat on my 09 civic is missing in a few spots. What’s the cheapest and simplest way to fix this?

Light sanding with 1500 grit sand paper making sure not to press to hard then use some g3 cutting compound to remove the scratches.

Hello Matthew. I find it strange that your five year old car is having issues with the paint already. Was this vehicle ever in a collision? If so, I would remove all of the clear coat on any panels that have peeling with 1200 or 1500 grit sand paper. Being careful not to take off any paint. Mask off the rest of the vehicle you will not be repairing and clean the surfaces very well with “prep solv”. Then re-apply a GOOD QUALITY clear to those areas. After the clear fully cures (24-48 hours), wet sand and buff out and dirt nibs, runs, or other imperfections. If you are very careful and do not remove any of the paint, this should be your easiest (and cheapest) fix. Good luck, Aaron
