I’m new to this site, and came across it quite acidently.
I was reading a thread started about three years ago, that had to do with using a clay bar.
The person posting stated he had read on a forum(which turned out to be the Corvette forum) about some guy using plumber’s putty instead of the traditional clay bar, to clay his Corvette.
Well, I am that Corvette owner who used the plumber’s putty, and have done so on my other vehicles as well, and the results speak for themselves.
I clay my Vette, and my pickup twice a year, and plumber’s putty is my choice.Clay bar kits usually run around $2
9.00- $39.00 depending what is in the kit.
Plumbers putty is $2.49. and tha’ts for a half pint, which will last two years at least.
The putty woks exactly like the clay bar, with the same results. For wax, I shy away from those expensive Zaino, and Chadwick products, and use good ole turtle wax.
i’d put my Vette up againstany car that has some of those expensive products used to detail them.
Plumber’s putty works just as well as a clay bar, and cost practically nothing.
