2006 Pacifica Ltd. Intermittent issue with the horn sounding on it’s own. A few times a month (usually in the middle of the night) when the car is locked, the horn will sound for about 30 seconds. It’s a constant tone, not “beep-beep-beep” and no lights flashing. Pressing the key fob buttons does nothing to stop it when it happens, it goes off by itself. It happens when the car is locked either by the key fob or by using the door switch. Weather does not seem to be a variable as it happens in cold, warm, dry and wet. Since no lights flashing, I think it’s the horn, not the alarm system. I’ve had it to the dealer and they did a diagnostic, could find nothing. Any ideas?

I appreciate it! I’ll give the relay a shot, simple and cheap enough. The tech’s reply to her was a little disturbing thought when he mentioned fiddling with the airbag. I’ll leave that to the pros

Could be the relay, which is most likely. I would probably rule out a pinched wire behind the airbag due to its random. Can you make it sound by turning the steering wheel?

Thanks. No issue with the horn sounding by itself while driving or turning the wheel. The horn works fine when needed and or tested. It only has happened when the car is locked and off. We can go weeks or months without it happening. Last week it did it 2 times which is even more unusual

I hate to mention a different YouTube channel but South Main Auto has had two Pacificas with the same problem with a ground on the drivers side behind the headlight. This might not be applicable to your problem at present, but if you reside in the rustbelt it may apply in the future.

Another thought, it isn’t something triggering your pats system is it?

Just popped onto identifix just to see what came up. A few have had issues with the horn switch and one was a clock spring. Those are some other things to look at. Unplug each one and see if it quits sounding would be the easiest way to check.
