Rebuilt 440 engine in a 70 Road Runner, mostly stock. Engine fires up immediately when cold, but after warming up (10-15min) will crank slow making restart difficult. ETCG starter vid didn’t directly address this issue. Tried different batteries, swapped voltage regulator, alternator dynamic tested OK at 60amps. Stock Chrysler starter, rebuilt and tested before installed. Cables all new. Battery at 12.7v, dips to approx 8v when warm starting (hard to determine precisely without min/max on VOM). Once started, batt volts at 14.5v.

      Suggestions?

Lunati 60303 cam, duration @ .05: 226I/234E. I’ve been down the vac leak road, which is not to say I don’t have one, I just haven’t been able to find it if there is one. 440 idles at about 14″ vacuum, reasonably steady. All vac hoses are new.

duration looks good any thing 300 or more is were you get into trouble 14 is a little low but not enough to give it a bad idle I have a question When your 440 is hot and you shut it down and go to restart and it hard did you try to drop the timing a little just to see if that was the problem?? Back in 69 /70s I played around with a lot of 440/ 413/ 383/ 340s and I never had than start hard when they were hot

Lunati tech guys said 14 was about right for this cam. Ditto on the 70s, my 383 road runner never had this sort of problem and I drove the s..t out of that car. I’ll give the timing retard a shot next time. Why wouldn’t the timing (if that is the prob) effect cold starts?

How is the timing? Maybe it’s off a bit. This could cause hard starting.
