I recently posted earlier on this 99 Civic. I put a new throttle body gasket on but used the old IAC gasket, which I coated with a little 3 in 1 oil to soften it up and wiped it clean though. The engine ran allot smoother than before,(cleaned IAC and throttle body)the idle speed stayed the same with Max A/C and all acc. running. Drove it to town, Throttle response was much better than before. On the way home we made another stop. Cranked the car and the check engine light stayed on, The engine was revving up and down at idle and at speed, so when we got home I ran the test in your video. The light only flashes one time though. I didn’t see a single flash in your codes so I checked the Hayne’s and it showed O2 sensor. I didn’t think the O2 would cause this condition, do you? I am pretty sure I bled all of the air out of the coolant system. I’m thinking it is the IAC sensor because the OHM’s test said it was bad before I cleaned it, just thought about it and I never checked it after cleaning (dummy). Could it possibly be the O2? Thanks again for all the response from you guys on my last post.

Didn’t think about the code being 1-0. It was plugged in when I put it back together, when the light came on originally. After I put the new throttle body gasket on I left the air filter box off but pulled the sensor so I could leave it plugged in. I have it on the firewall, does that mean it is picking up the wrong temperature causing the engine to rev up and down? What about when it was plugged in? Could it be bad or damaged? Thanks again for the reply.

Unplug the connector and put an ohm meter across the sensor to see if you
read ohms. If open replace the sensor. If you have a scanner you can read the
            temp in live data.

Code 1 is for the O2 sensor as you state. I’m surprised it wasn’t listed on our codes page. That said, it can cause fuel mixture issues if it’s faulty. Since it’s OBDII you would be able to check the O2 sensor operation on a scan tool which would also tell you for sure what the code is for. There are many affordable options for scan tools including the Torque app that many people talk about.

As for the idle issue, you get the standard, ‘read this article I wrote’ for that since I’ve written extensively about it.
