Just got a 93 F-150 with the 300 inline six, runs great, looks great, but I have a torque converter shudder whenever I’m in overdrive. 🙁 Fluid is over filled by maybe 1/4 quarter and fluid is brown (with a hint of red). My question is would it be safe to change the fluid or am I better off just waiting for the transmission to die and have it rebuilt? Thanks guys!

If it’s that dark I would leave it alone. I don’t know why people never change tranny fluid.

If 2WD and not much trouble to pull the transmission, maybe chuck in a new converter. Driving it in overdrive like it is, is feeding clutch material to the valve body.

Don’t why I didn’t do this in the first place. It’s the same color of brand new oil.

Because a lot of owners manual say who dont have to. Same reason why people don’t change their coolant.
