Changing Tranny Fluid is NOT needed

Just thought id state that the manual for my Daewoo states that under normal conditions NEVER change transmission Fluid of Filter only change under severe driving conditions

The problem with waiting 100k miles to change auto tranny fluid is that it can be risky after that time. Which goes back full circle to manufacturers knowing things like this, and factoring that into their service intervals. Why replace the tranny fluid, when they can just buy a new car, because the cost to fix the transmission is just too high.

I have always used the “60.000 miles for the first auto trans fluid change, then every 30,000 after that.

If you wait 100,000 you should definitely not change the filter, and you may even want to throw in a bottle of friction modifiers…just to insure you don’t junk the tranny.

My personal practice is a fluid FLUSH and filter every 60K. Some Hondas and possibly other makers do not have an accessible filter-they use a screen deep inside the trans.

I’m sorry if you aren’t flushing your brake system I would be scared to drive around you. After a while water will be absorbed into the system, reducing the boiling point of the brake fluid. This leads to brake fade and failure. No bueno. Same with power steering fluid. And coolant needs to be replaced every 3 years more or less. And tranny fluid, well I think 100,000 miles is good on RWD transmissions like my C6 (although they are pretty indestructable). All fluids wear out, never assume they will “be fine”
