Changing brakes on a Ford Escape Hybrid

Hey guys
I have a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and need to replace the front brake pads. What is the proper procure for changing the pads on a hybrid car? FEH has the automatic testing system so the pistons are pushed out every 10 minutes or so even with the car off. Would disconnecting the 12V battery while replacing the brakes be enough to stop the pistons from being pushed out?

Nice post with good info. I was not aware of this procedure until now. I know about the regenerative systems but never thought they would require special procedures to service. I have yet to work on a hybrid of that type.

Learning new things is cool.
