The Egr passages were cleaned out twice, once by me and once by my mechanic. He said the valve is almost never go bad. So he suggested that the passages went bad. So the CEL was off for a month and now it goes back on in the morning but in the afternoon I am going home from work it was off. So what could be causing it.

With the car at idle, Remove the vacuum line and cap it. Then either apply vacuum
to the egr port via hand vac pump. Two things should happen. The car should run bad
and the egr diaphragm should hold vacuum. If the car does not run bad either the diaphragm
is shot and did not raise the valve or the egr passage is blocked. Here is a little more troubleshooting.
