CDL and Diesel Careers

I have a Question. I have an interest in diesel and automotive. I feel diesel may be more lucrative, but having type 1 diabetes there is no way of obtaining a CDL. Should I just stick to automotive? And is diesel any more lucrative? Sorry for posting this in the wrong category.

Diesel Mechanics in a big rig shop pretty much requires a CDL any more. There are some exceptions but, it will severely limit your career in the beginning. If you want to do diesel I suggest you learn it and work on diesels at a car dealership. You normally will make more and you will not need the CDL. Also if you did decide you wanted to get into big rigs if you have made a name for yourself then you might be able to get into one without a CDL.

I been a truck mechanic all my life, legally you can’t back a truck out of a garage on private property, when the DOT cops come in with the gold badges, you better be legal, they don’t fool around, they start digging for more.
