Car is a 99 cougar with 2.5 engine and CD4E trans.
Often times the 1 – 2 shift is unpredictable. sometimes it is smooth and other times it tends to bump (not bang, just firm) Usually if the RPM is about 2500 it is less likely to bump. Or if I let off the gas before it shifts i won’t feel it.Kind of wondering if this is normal behavior for the CD4E. Also for the record – the OD light does not flash.
I have replaced the TSS (not the VSS) and it didn’t seem to effect anything. Fluid is full and in good shape. None of the other sifts or engagements are abnormally hard, just the 1 – 2.
I do not know the history of service for this car. It has 150,000 miles. I do not know if it even has a shift kit or how that would effect the shift feel.
