1998 Chevy c1500 pickup, 4.3L
While breaking it in immediately after install per eastern catalytic’s instructions,http://www.rockauto.com/info/EasternCat/Converter%20Break%20In%20flyer.pdf
I noticed my temp would not get over 160, which would indicate to me that the t-stat is stuck open. Having already started it and warming it up for a good 25 min, I continued their instructions of revving at 2500rpm for 2 min.then shut it off.
Now second guessing myself, I have not taken it for a test drive as of yet.
My question is…… If that would have been hot enough to allow the catalyst to expand properly and burn off the vermiculite? Or should I replace the t-stat and try again? Or did I just screw up the break in process completely and flush the loot i spent on it, and the 3- O2 sensors down the shitter?
It’s just one thing after another it seems….
Thanks in advance for any help.
