Cat Converter cleaning

      Just wondering , is there anything that really works to clean out a cat converter? we have 2 jeep GC’s
      2000 year models both with the 4.0 il 6 my wifes is quick on take off , but mine seems to bog on take off till about 30 mph

        If it is really clogged, You may try to see if Scotty Kilmer’s technique works….. Some people do say it works… I have yet to try it…. Worst case, you just have to buy a new Cat anyway…

          I saw that video of Scotty’s and am a bit…..uncomfortable with the idea of pouring so much lacquer thinner in the gas tank. That stuff can eat plastics and damage rubber lines, I am wary of “chemical fixes” for mechanical problems.

            Yeah, I would agree with that…. I would like to try the bath though… If the cat is shot, there isn’t really much to lose….

              It’s really unlikely that you could clean out a cat with a little bit of burnt solvent. Cats run at thousands of degrees, and that temperature would have burned off anything that a solvent can dissolve. Plus the solvent has already been burnt.

              To clean a CAT you would need something that dissolves the deposits, whatever they are. It would probably take some strong acid.
