I was just “cleared from the system” from Autozone because they couldn’t reach me 2 weeks ago when they tried to call me. (I’ve been on medical leave for about 3 months after sustaining a broken bone and a dislocated toe)

Q: in ya’lls opinion based on your experience of the industry, what would you recommend as a good career move in efforts to pursue automotive repair experience as well as fulfill ASE requirements..?

I could go back to autozone if I re-apply; however, I would like to use this opportunity to get some real wrench turning experience.

I can only work 3 days a week (fri, sat, sun) since I am going to school.

Hey.. Now that I think about it, I might just work at my school… maybe run the tool room. banana:

Hate to say it but with only having the weekend to work with you probably won’t find much. A lot of “quik” places are open on weekends, you could try there.

You can try applying to different shops and talking to the managers. And if your up for it, you can volunteer at a local high school that has an automotive vo-tech program to gain experience there, but to become ASE certified you will need to be employed at a shop for the specified number of years and/or complete an automotive program at a certified school.

My advise is to forget the repair side, do parts and service advising, much more stable and lucrative checks.
