Hey ETCG,
Here’s a suggestion for a video. Carburettors. You can talk about the days where you had fun tweaking and rebuilding a carburettor. Also on how the little carbie works! The carbie looks like a mysterious thing sitting on top of my intake manifold to me. I always wonder how that little mechanical thing manages to control the fuel/air mixture when the engine is cold/warm or during WOT.

that would be a cool discussion, i have always been a fan of the carburetor and how it works, in fact his Ford Farmont i believe has a carburetor so eric could probably now do this.
I’ll do you one better. Just this week I shot a rebuild of the Fairmont carburetor and also a video on how to adjust one. Not sure when they’ll be released, the edit is going to be a real pain. The camera was acting up and all the clips are out of sequence. It’s going to be a challenge to edit for sure. That said, the videos are already shot. It should air in the next couple of months.

I would love to see this video as I would like to rebuild my Carburettor on my Ford Falcon (a distant cousin of the Fairmont, in Australia anyway!!)

Yeah the Mad Max car was a Ford Falcon XB Coupe, mine is a XC which was the next model and mine is a 4 door (Coupes are really pricey, a good will set you back at least $20K!!)
Just of note, Eric Bana (movie star) has a really cool Ford Falcon XB Coupe which he turned into a race car. Below is a pic….Sorry to waffle on (I could talk Ford Falcons all day!!) the below pic is the last Falcon to ever be produced in Australia as they are not producing it locally after 2015. It is a 2014 Ford Falcon FG GT. I think that we are getting the Ford Torus? Not sure, its going to be a sad day for the Australian Car Manufacturing Industry when that happens as Ford are about the last ones manufacturing cars in Australia.
I think I saw Eric Bana on Top Gear with some video of him driving that car. Very cool. I like the Falcon FG GT. Looks like it would be a fun car to tear around in.
Just saw on last nights hang out that the carb video will be coming out very soon…….can not wait for that!! Thanks again for all your videos, they have really re-energised my passion for cars and working on them. (can not say that the wife is that happy as I am increasing my tool collection every week now!!)
The videos will last for the next 3 weeks. 2 on the rebuild (in 2 parts) and one on adjusting. Looking back there was so much more that I wanted to cover but I suppose that will have to wait for a later date. For now, the Fairmont runs awesome with it’s fresh carburetor. Look for the videos starting Friday July 25, 2014. If you’re a Premium Member you’ll get the full version of the video on the 24th.
