Hi guys

New member here, my daily driver has been stuck in the garage for almost i year now, and the winter is almost here, and i need to get it going…I want to park my chevy before the snow and salt is comming.
Its a 95 Kia Sportage

Well… to turn back in time, in 2012, almost at this time, the fuel pump in the car went bad.
The pump was changed, also the fuel tank and injectors was removed and clean, and the car would run awsome for three whole months…in around january this year, i was pulling in to work, and the car just died… Had it towed to my garage, and found out the 3months old fuel pump was dead….(damn you ebay!)

Contacted so the seller of the pump that promissed me that he would send out a new one…or 2. A month went by and no pump did arive. So, i went kinda crazy and order 3, brand new fuel pumps… Also ending up buying a new pump at a shop here in norway…

So, yeah tried some f/p and none of them would make the run like it used to. Again, cleaned the fuel lines,etc and really did not make a diffrence. At that time i was able to get it started, but run on like 500rpm at idle. Just shake and no power at all… If you pressed the gasspedal, it was like the power just dissapered. But later, i come to think about two years ago, when the car was missfiring, due to a bad coilpack, and ending up orderings brand new igniton parts. Plugs, coilpack wires etc.

So, it really did not make i diffrence, but atleast i know that theyre good….And should last a long time…Still the same, if im lucky it would barely start.

Really put a lot of money in this car.

Some facts:

* New sparkplugs, wires, coilpack etc
* Timing belt was changed around 20-30k miles ago. (3-4years)
* No fault codes stored
* Runs with starting fluid
* Injectors are clicking
* There is fuel pressure, and its circling around in the system.
* Smells fuel in the exhuast, after a while with cranking.
* Fuel pump and filter, is 10 months old.
* Compression should be ok, as the car is running good on starting fluid

Any tips?
Hi

Yeah, oil change will be done Asap.
Cylinderwash down? is that was unburned fuel goes down to the oil pan?
Yes, too much fuel in the cylinder can basically “unseat” the rings and cause compression to drop off.

Old Fuel could be it. This may sound trivial. Is your engine filter clean? Also have you checked the intake system for any obstructions?

I had a similar issue and over the summer a mouse got into the piping after the filter and made a nest. Clogged it all up. Luckily nothing major was sucked into the engine.

Most likely is not the issue but just check the filter, and intake system. Also change the fuel and look at the gas pressure.

Hi

The fuel that is comming out of the fuel filter is clean…But than again…it was changed earlier this year….as a thing that “COULD” be the problem… In the 3 years have own this car i changed them 3 times… There is no doubt that there was been rusty fuel…But there has not been any diffrence in the way that the car running when i changed the filters…But i guess when i clean the system once for a long time i would replace it again… The intake is as it should be…no restrictions… But i have not been able to start it since two days ago…so im starting to think its periodic clogged injectors…

This is whats left, when a friend filtered the old fuel…
