      Hello,

I am having a vibration issue with my car. When I am driving around town, everything is fine there is slight vibration but nothing extremely bad, but after driving at higher speeds (i.e. on the highway), when I come to a stop the car starts to vibrate very bad and the whole car shakes, if I put the car in neutral it stops immediately, or if i let off the break it goes away.

I assumed this was a motor mount issue and had a mechanic look at the motor mounts but he said they weren’t torn. Since this doesn’t happen all the time, could this mean that the mounts are going bad (stretching) but haven’t torn yet?

      Any suggestions would help.

yeah I agree it sounds like your mounts are bad.

If there is anything you KNOW that is broken, fix that first, its amazing how often broken thing causes symptoms you would totally not expect.

visually inspect and test the mounts before replacing them. It is too big a PITA job to just assume they are bad.
BTW what kind of car we dealing with here?

Also, is this a new symptom or has it always done this?

See if you can get it hooked up to a scanner that will read live data. Have seen low idle speeds cause the same problems. Compare idle speed when hot to tune up specs.

I am assuming it is an automatic. If so check your trans fluid level sounds like a torque converter issue. Another thing you can do to test is to do a stall test.
